Comtact Service Delivery Centre
Comtact's state-of-the-art technical hub has relocated to a Northampton based Service Delivery Centre (SDC), the location of which was chosen for its excellent connectivity to the rest of the UK only being and hour from London. The Data Centre facility is a brand new build, only being completed late 2011 and accommodates the very latest data centre design standards and equipment. The Comtact facility accommodates an enterprise class Network Operations Centre (NOC), 24x7 helpdesk and high-level engineering resource, 45,000 sq ft Tier 3 Class Data Centre and equipment staging & spares-holding facility - all in the same premises for maximum efficiency and reliability.
Network Operation Centre (NOC)
Comtact's Network Operation Centre (NOC) offers 24x7 proactive monitoring and remediation service that leverages industry leading software from Solarwinds that is expertly configured to ensure we are enabled to meet our ITIL defined service level agreements.
Comtact's customers are provided with a bespoke dashboard view of their managed estate (be it networks, servers, security systems or any other technologies), which is viewable over a secure web portal 24x7x365.
In addition to enabling Comtact to proactively detect service issues for rapid remediation, our monitoring solution forms the basis of
endpoint performance management information, which can be optionally supplemented with detailed traffic metrics, including protocol usage and top talker information via Netflow.

This toolset enables Comtact to perform meaningful service reviews with the customer to understand usage trends, whilst the customer can of course examine these at any time they choose via a bespoke dashboard view of their estate.
Data Centre Services
As highlighted above, Comtact's SDC is inclusive of an on-premise Class 3 Data Centre which forms a rare market proposition. By sistering our NOC into the same premises as our Data Centre we are able to offer our customers a level of assurance that any managed hosting services that they choose to place with us will be met with a level of due care and response only available by having the helpdesk and engineers on site 24x7, not "on call".
By combining the above powerful consideration with the below listed characteristics, which deem our Data Centre environment Class 3, Comtact provides our Network customers with the assurance that we are well positioned to become a long term strategic infrastructure partner.
- Security: The data centre has perimeter fencing and CCTV coverage points on all internal and external entry and exit points, as well as between rack aisles from which images are recorded and stored. With an anti-tailgating pod, in operation is a strict photo ID swipe card entry system for access to the building, along with overhead secure network cabling and caged storage as well as manned security onsite on a 24/7 basis
- Power: The data centre features 4MVA of power split into 4 x 2MVA HV supplies (N+N). Flexible power with up to 32 amps dual feed per rack can also be provided from separate transformers, panel boards and UPS sub-systems. Other features include 4 x MVA transformers (N+N), 5 x 1MW generators (N+1) with dual fuel tanks, 12 x 500KVA UPS (N+N) with 8 minute autonomy (at full load) and advanced power monitoring technology
- Environment: The data centre is fully monitored and implements N+2 free cooling glycol based chillers, N+N high efficiency CRAC units, N+N humidification and a cold aisle containment system. With the latest fire protection provided by a IG55 gas suppression system, we arel be alerted at the earliest possible sign of a fire by continually drawing air into a pipe network attached to a detector unit on a wall
- Connectivity: Dedicated internet connections will be available along with site-to-site connectivity to link up multiple business sites into our Northampton data centre. A PSTN breakout will also be available through our SIP trunking solution . We are carrier neutral and the data centre will benefit from being part of our core MPLS network with resilient connections to Telehouse, Global Switch and Telecity. Dedicated and shared internet and private connections are available from Comtact via a range of carriers that bring economy of scale to our customers when connecting to other facilities
